Memorial Day – Never Forget What We are Really Celebrating
Memorial Day is the day set aside to recognize and appreciate the ultimate sacrifice brave U.S. military men and women have made for our American freedom. The holiday is observed on the last Monday of May, May 25, 2020, honoring the men and women who died while serving our country.
Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings, and participating in parades. Unofficially, it marks the beginning of the summer season, but we should all take time to remember our fallen heroes and how special this day is for our country.
The National Moment of Remembrance encourages all Americans to pause wherever they are at 3 p.m. local time on Memorial Day for a minute of silence to remember and honor those who died in service to the nation.
We here at FedBiz Access honor this and the sacrifice of all service members and veterans. We proudly offer a support service to help Veteran-Owned Small Businesses “VOSB” and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses “SDVOSB” (collectively “(SD)VOSB”) expedite registration for the certification as a VOSB or SDVOSB business eligible for certain federal contracts set-aside specifically under the (SD)VOSB designation.
We encourage everyone to take the time on Memorial Day to reflect on the price of American freedom and recognize the sacrifice of those that died in the line of service. – God Bless America!
