The good news is that SAM.gov says the system error has been corrected. The original alert was marked inactive on July 30, but that does not necessarily mean every registration submitted during the affected period requires no further attention. Potentially affected businesses are being sent instructions, and now is a good time to verify your information instead of assuming everything is fine.
What Did SAM.gov Report?
According to the official SAM.gov NAICS Code Size Table Discrepancy alert, the error may have resulted in incorrectly computed NAICS size standards within two representations and certifications tables:
FAR 52.219-1, Small Business Program Representations
FAR 52.212-3, Offeror Representations and Certifications for Commercial Products and Commercial Services
The affected period covers entity registration renewals submitted from March 24 through July 22, 2026.
That March 24 starting date is notable because it was also the date SAM.gov released its modernized FAR and DFARS representations and certifications. The federal notice does not say that every renewal submitted during this period was incorrect. It says the system error “may have led” to incorrectly computed size standards, which means some businesses may find that their records are accurate while others receive instructions to take action.

Was Your 2026 SAM.gov Renewal Affected?
Your registration may fall within the group SAM.gov identified if you submitted an entity registration renewal between March 24 and July 22, 2026.
Start by signing in to SAM.gov directly and checking your Entity Workspace. Confirm the date on which your renewal was submitted, not simply the date you started working on it or received a reminder. If the submission date falls outside the identified window, the official alert does not identify your renewal as potentially affected.
If your renewal was submitted during the affected period, search the inbox and spam folder associated with your SAM.gov registration for the official subject line. It is also wise to check the inbox of your Government Business Point of Contact and anyone responsible for maintaining the registration.

What Should Affected Contractors Do Now?
First, confirm whether your renewal was submitted during the affected period and look for the official SAM.gov email. The notice says potentially affected entities will receive specific instructions, so those instructions should guide your response.
Second, access SAM.gov by entering the address directly into your browser instead of relying on a link in an unexpected email. Government contractors are common targets for registration renewal scams, fake expiration notices and payment requests. SAM.gov registration is free, and you should verify any unusual communication before supplying login credentials, banking information or business records.
Third, review your FAR and DFARS representations and certifications, paying particular attention to the NAICS size tables connected to FAR 52.219-1 and FAR 52.212-3. Compare the displayed size standards with the current SBA size standards for the NAICS codes your company uses.
Fourth, do not assume that correcting the system means every previously submitted renewal was automatically corrected. The official alert says the underlying error was fixed and that potentially affected entities will receive next-step instructions.
